Managing Neglected Woodlands

This one-day course is for anyone faced with managing a neglected woodland and who wishes to explore all the options and put together an action plan.  There will be a site visit to look at neglected woodland during the day.

  • Identify neglected woodlands and why they have become neglected
  • Legislation relevant to trees and woodland
  • Plan a course of action relevant to the type of neglected woodland and its management objectives
  • Sources of grant aid and advice
  • Create your action plan

Small neglected woodlands are at risk as they often don’t form any part of a farm’s management policy.  However, with the growing need to support a sustainable environment, small woodlands are becoming increasingly important not least for their wildlife, conservation and landscape potential.
