The Small Woods Association is Britain’s leading organisation in supporting and promoting the work done by the owners and carers of small woodlands.

The South West Forest area covers 300,000 ha with a population of 180,000 and is broadly bounded by Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and Exmoor.

Gillian Dixon - South Yeo Farm has been in the Dixon family for 3 generations and is Gillian and Ian's home, a traditional Devon longhouse believed to have been built in the 1600s.  Their rare breed business of sheep, pigs and poultry is young but growing quickly.

Ben May of Forest Crafts - lives and works in the heart of North Devon's unspoilt countryside.
He makes his living out of continuing ancient woodland crafts and practices, as well as doing more modern sculptural work.

Carol Horsington and Dave Taylor of Cornish Willow make a range of traditional willow and green wood products,

including baskets, hurdles / fencing and rustic furniture for the home and garden. All their products are handcrafted in Cornwall by themselves using, as far as possible, locally sourced and home grown materials. Much of the material is grown on our small holding which is situated on the South Eastern edge of Bodmin Moor, between Launceston and Liskeard.

Alan Beat of The Bridge Mill, Bridgerule.  Alan and Rosie have lived at The Bridge Mill is situated on the river Tamar in the small village of Bridgerule near Holsworthy in North Devon since  1987.  Alan published his first book “A start in smallholding” in 2004.
